Week 4

Happy, Healthy, Purposeful was created from my own desire to improve. I am constantly looking for ways to expand my knowledge, health and career and I am excited to embark on this journey with you all. I have been playing competitive golf for 13 years and have been playing professionally since 2014. Throughout this journey I have realized how important it is to live a Happy, Healthy and Purposeful life no matter what your path may be. We are all on different journeys but my hope is that we can grow together.

Happy

One thing I have found makes a huge difference in my attitude and mindset is to not let negativity affect me. There are countless examples throughout my day where I was stuck in traffic, spilled my coffee, or someone was rude to me. But as soon as I was aware of my reaction to these situations it made a huge impact on my happiness. Try not to focus on the negative but instead; accept what happened. Understand what is out of your control and understand you are responsible for your reaction. It doesn't have to affect you!

Healthy

If you are anything like me, you know its important to know what you are putting into your body. There are numbers ways to guess and estimate how many grams of proteins or carbs you have eaten throughout the day. I have always found the guesswork takes too much time or I give up after a couple days of doing it. I have started using Lose It! and have had a much better understanding of the food I am consuming. If you are trying to lose weight, maintain or gain weight this app breaks down the calories of what you have consumed but also the macro nutrients (pictured below) so you can figure out what works with your body. By logging the food you take in, you can compare how you felt that day with what you at you ate. This will give you a better understanding of what fuels your body best.

Purposeful

Everyone likes to feel confident, smart and accomplished. To me, I feel purposeful when I am empowered. There are so many people around me whom I seek advice from. Their response to my feelings and vulnerability is important to my self confidence. Sometimes the positive words from others can take my confidence up a level. My challenge this week is to find someone who might need a few words of encouragement. Maybe someone is working really hard and they need to hear that it is not going unnoticed. Make someone feel empowered and purposeful and it will go a long way.
